The band is back and raring to go along with games and discussion.

Though focused on youth, everyone is welcome. See you there.

Walk Against Warming 2009

Be a part of the biggest ever Walk Against Warming and join millions of Australians demanding action on climate change. Why is this year’s walk so important? Car Boot Sale
The car boot sale is on again as the first Saturday of the month.  So, if you want to come along early to grab some bargains (even if it’s just the FREE sausage sizzle) that would be cool. For parking and drop of for Connect just drive past the crowd into the first parking spaces – we’ll be setting that aside for Connect people.

All Night LAN Update: There has been some confusion around the next All Night LAN. It is next on Saturday 5th December from 10am until 9am Sunday 6th December. Apologies for any incorrect info that was given out.

We had a great time at Connect and Pulse last Saturday…. with pizza for both lunch and tea!

Congrats to the girls team who won the pizza challenge by half a point.  But I think the boys recovered with dessert – making it a draw.

We’ll have to make sure we patent the ‘chicken and chips’ pizza so Pizza Hut pay us royalties when they start selling them.

Walk a Mile in My Boots

This Friday (17th July) we’re joining in the fundraising event called ‘Walk a Mile in My Boots’.

ARE YOU GAME ENOUGH to join walk a mile on a wintry Adelaide morning raising awareness and funds for the work the Hutt Street Centre does with Adelaide’s homeless and vulnerable people?

Where: Walk from North Terrace to South Terrace
When: 7:30am this Friday – 17th July
Cost: $20 registration covers breakfast and goes to the fundraising
(gold coin donation for children under 12)
What to bring: Warm clothes and an umbrella/jacket if the forecast is for rain
What’s provided: Breakfast

We need to register attendees so let me know that you’re coming.

The more that can make it the better – so invite your parents, your friends and neighbours.

If you can’t make it please sponsor someone who is walking. $20 will provide a warm jumper, $50 a swag, $100 provides a ‘park to home’ starter kit.

What else for 2009?

Impact is a key part of Zeal. It allows us to serve others in our community, to build relationships, and to encourage and strengthen each other in active discipleship.

We are looking for two more Impact group events for 2009. So keep thinking and looking out for ideas. Is there a way we can serve in your neighbourhood?

Also, we need a few more helpers to continue the Skate Park service. Can you join a team of 4 once or twice a year for a few hours on a Sunday afternoon?

The SA Gamers’ Alliance are presenting the first South Australian Gaming Festival (SAGAfest) on July 11th and 12th.

It will run from 9am Saturday 11th until 9pm Sunday 12th July.

The festival will be a massive LAN held at the St Clair Recreation Centre and expected to attract around 400 gamers.

It will be both PC and consoles, along with other gaming and activities.

 The next OP58 event is the Winter Sleepout on Friday 5th June.

Worhip service starts at 7:30pm, doors lock for the sleep out at 10pm, and pick up is 9am (enough time to then get to Zeal Connect at 10am!).

It’s on at the Queen’s Theatre – cnr Playhouse Lane and Gilles Arcade in the City.  Entry is $5 and a pancake breakfast is provided.

As part of Matt’s studies the documentary will report on the Zeal activities as a local community event and may be featured on the Tea Tree Gully TV program on Channel 31.

Help the homeless get back on their feet this winter by experiencing, for just one hour, what it’s like to live in their shoes.

On Friday the 17th of July at 7.30am, walk a mile on a wintry Adelaide morning to get your breakfast in the parklands while supporting Hutt Street Centre’s work with Adelaide’s homeless and vulnerable people.

It will be a great group event to experience life in others shoes – and raising money to help the homeless and vulnerable residents of inner-city Adelaide.

Prepare for some wicked gaming and some great…..lunch. Well, it’ll prolly only be Pizza again, but Pizza is great. So it’ll be great. Anyways,

Zeal Pulse is on straight after Connect.  Stick around for Yiros tea and other snacks at the cafe and then stay on for some games, interaction and discussion.  The first Pulse of the year always has some surprises – so it will be a great night for everyone.  

Car Boot Sale
A car boot sale is also being held in the car park of the Golden Grove Salvation Army on the 1st Saturday of the month.  It runs from 8am until 12pm.  Come along a few minutes early to grab some bargains from the stalls and a free sausage from the BBQ.  Have some gear in the garage you want to sell?  Then come along from 7am to setup a stall!  What about car parking you ask?  We will keep an area aside as a drop off zone for Connect so please come on in the normal drive-way.  We will also set aside a few car parks to ensure you have a park if you are driving yourself.

Parents Night
The next Connect is Saturday 4th April – and will combine with a Parents Night.  Last year we had our first Fathers Night - but this year will be even better and is open to everyone.  Bring along a parent, or an untie or uncle, a neighbour or anyone who would like to join in.  Connect will run from 10am – 5pm during the day then the Parents Night will start at 5pm, with a cafe tea and then gaming with competitions until 10pm.  We’ll have some extra equipment such as air-hockey and pinball – so leave a comment on the website to let us know what you’d like.

Equip is a small group of Teenagers meeting together on a Monday night and Studying the Bible and what it means to us. I cannot wait to see you all there.
